And now, here are the resources for the curriculum itself. click on this link to learn more about how to use this ecumenical, international, grassroots curriculum: We also have a special "Children's Lectionary Bible" to use in the classroom. Check it out! Each new lectionary year begins with the first Sunday of Advent. We are in Year A now (2011); Year B starts November 27, 2011 and runs through November 2012.

Union Church Sunday School customarily begins its summer recess with the last Sunday in the Sanctuary, on Fathers' Day, the third Sunday in June. We have not had Sunday school on that day, but have had a celebration of some sort of the Sunday school year in worship on that day. Our curriculum ends with the day of Pentecost (we do not subscribe for the summer because our Sunday school is in recess over the summer). This year, 2010-2011, conveniently, Pentecost is June 12, which would be the last day of regular classes anyway. So, there will be no need to fill in with unused curriculum!

Some of you prefer to make your own plans, and these things may be helpful. Also... Children always respond well to whatever is close to the teacher's heart. If there is a Bible verse or a topic that you are thinking about lately, you can always build a lesson plan on that. Speak to the pastor about resources; helping you with resources is one of the things she is trained to do. |
